Through the years of offering yoga classes to women in recovery yogaHOPE has been able to discover programming needs that were being missed. The women were hungry for a clear understanding of their emotional anatomy, and they were in need of simple, effective and accessible tools. They wanted more information on how they could take their yoga off their mats and into their lives!

Community teachers and clinicians were in need of a deliverable program that was replicable, measurable and most of all proven effective!

After years of research and development our program was born! yogaHOPE’s Trauma Informed Mind Body (TIMBo)* program offers a deliverable, research-based curriculum based on the ways in which mind-body practices allow for long-term traumatic stress recovery. Using mindfulness techniques that have proven effective in addressing emotion regulation and distress tolerance, the TIMBo program is on the cutting-edge of trauma care. By focusing on reprogramming the body’s natural responses, TIMBo has the effect of empowering incarcerated and recovering women to understand and then regulate their responses to stimuli, thus stopping the dangerous cycle of violence in families and communities.

Women begin using self regulation and mindfulness tools after the very first class and the sense of empowerment is felt right away! Each session builds on the previous one, giving women the opportunity to notice the effectiveness of these tools on the spot. Group sharing allows women to share their discoveries and validate one another in making empowering choices.

We look forward to partnering with our New Hampshire community partners and leaders to spread the healing across New England!
